Frequently asked questions.
Q. What packages do you offer and what’s included?
A. We like to keep things simple - you can see our “packages” on our Investment Page. We hate it when a client, after looking at their gallery says… “did you happen to get _____?” This why for traditional weddings, we encourage full day coverage with two shooters. Experience tells us our clients are happier (and that makes us happy!) when we can be there for all those moments you didn’t know you wanted captured. For full day coverage, we typically deliver 700-800 edited high resolution images in your gallery. For rehearsal coverage, you can expect 100-150 edited images, depending on the size and nature of the event. We don’t make you purchase your images and they are yours to download. Our gallery software allows you to create albums and prints of all types and sizes through several different photo labs. You can order those through our gallery, or you can download your images and have albums or prints made through a service of your choosing. We do make a small percentage on sales done through our gallery, so we certainly appreciate the extra love, but don’t have any requirement for you to use those store services. We do not provide RAW photo or video files to our clients. WE DO OFFER CUSTOM PACKAGES. If you have something in mind that’s not on our services or investment page, let’s talk and figure out a way we can deliver exactly what you need.
Q. How much do you charge and what are your payment terms?
A. Here is the link to our Investment Page. It covers the how much do you charge question. As for payment terms, we require a 25% booking fee to hold your date on our calendar. The balance is due no later than the date of your wedding. This applies only to wedding day coverage for photo or video, not to engagement sessions or Rehearsal Dinner coverage. Fees for Rehearsal Dinner coverage are due by the date of the event. As mentioned on the Investment Page, if you choose to do both an engagement session and let us also do your wedding coverage, your fees for the engagement session are applied to the wedding day photo coverage.
Q. I’d like to book your services… what are the next steps?
A. Wonderful. If you have not already confirmed our availability on your date, reach out to us at info@kalosdigitalstudios.com and let’s make sure we can get you covered. After that, we will forward you an agreement for your review and signature that confirms the dates, locations, services to be provided, and all the things that protect you and us in the event of unforeseen events. You will be able to sign this electronically, and we will do the same.
The next step in the process if for us to meet (if we have not already done so) to go over your preferences, hopes, desires, and anything else we need to know to deliver top notch service. We believe in regular communication leading up to your big day and by the time that day arrives, everyone will be on the same page. You (i.e., the bride) are/is the star of the show. As your photographer, we will play a key role along with your planner and day-of coordinator in ensuring everything runs smoothly - and we take this responsibility very seriously. If we are only doing video for you, we will work seamlessly alongside your photographer to make sure everyone is getting the coverage you desire.
Q. Do you work with a second shooter or assistant?
A. YES. Both! Every chance we get. Having done it both ways, it is the best way to deliver a gallery that makes our clients love our work.
Q. Have you shot weddings at our venue before?
A. If you are using a venue around middle-Tennessee, it’s likely that we have been there. If we have not shot in your location, we will scout it within a couple of weeks of your wedding so we can understand where all that great light lives and where the best locations for different portrait opportunities are on the property. Light is king, and we take our on time to scout locations without charging our clients so that we can be sure to deliver the absolute best service. There’s nothing worse than falling behind schedule because your photo/video providers are searching for locations.
Q. What happens if something goes wrong?
A. Great question - if you are having an outdoor wedding, you will need a contingency plan in case of rain. Same for us! Not just for rain, but for a number of other things out of our control. This is one reason why we believe so much in having a second shooter. Should one individual become ill and not be able to work, there will always be another to step in and run things and it’s also more likely that we can recruit a replacement rather than asking another professional to come in completely cold, not knowing the couple, the venue, or the shot plan for the day. Beyond that we always travel with backup gear. Multiple camera bodies, lenses, audio equipment, lighting, etc. to be sure we are prepared for things like equipment failure or breakage. As far as your images, we use redundant memory cards in each of our cameras. Those memory cards are backed up to hard drives at our studio, which are in-turn backed up to cloud-based internet services so that we always have at least 3 copies of your files in separate locations.
